President: Mike Kustra, Ba.Tech, M.Eng (cand.), Toronto
Mike graduated with a Bachelors Degree with distinction in Architecture – Construction Project and Facility Management in 2014, and is currently working towards a Masters of Engineering degree at the University of Toronto. Even though he loves looking at buildings, bridges, and still plays with Lego, he enjoys being involved in various Polish organizations such as Kujawiacy-Polish Song and Dance Ensemble in Kitchener, and the Association of Polish Engineers in Canada. Mike took on the challenge to lead PISK for the 2015 year, and with him brings an energetic and strong team-oriented approach to his team and Polish community.
Vice President: Paula Poniatowska, B.A. (Hons.), Toronto
Paula completed her University of Toronto, Honours BA with distinction, specializing in Criminology and Law, Ethics & Society. During her studies at the University of Toronto, she completed a minor in Polish Language and Literature at the Slavic Department of Polish Studies, and is working towards an International Business certificate at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, Business Law & Negotiation. She has also been on the Polish Students’ Associationexecutive team for five years, holding various leadership positions where her goal is to build rapport with main campus groups and Polish organizations namely. Paula is excited to join the PISK team and aims to bring Polonia together!
Marketing Director: Ania Rak,B.Comm (Hons.), Mississauga
Ania graduated with a Hons. B.Comm from the DeGroote School of Business in 2011. She has been active in the Polish community in Canada since 2005 when she was heavily involved with Grono Mlodziezy Hamilton. She has also worked closely with the KPK in Hamilton, McMaster Polish Society, University of Toronto’s PSA and most recently, with PISK. Her experience lies in marketing strategy. She currently works for Ericsson Canada Inc. in a dynamic B2B sales organization. Her dream is to watch the movie Frozen every day…
Social Director: Paulina Pędziwiatr,B.Comm, Mississauga
Just like any roadrunner, Paulina likes to run like the wind and explore the world. Unfortunately her student budget does not allow for many adventures, so she makes sure they are memorable and meaningful … just like any great brand element. Currently staying put in Mississauga, Paulina is excited to be helping out with PISK as director of social media and honorary director of baking.
Accounts Director: Agnieszka Fraczek, B.A. (Hons.), Toronto
Agnieszka has completed a double major in Sociology and Psychology with a Polish Minor at the University of Toronto St George campus. She has been an active member in Polonia since 2007. In her spare time she loves to train horses, play volleyball and travel. REGIONAL REPS
Below are PISK’s representatives to individual student clubs across the nation, listed geographically. Their role is to share news and event updates between PISK and their own home clubs.
Julia Buczek, BA (cand.): University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC
Julia is studying modern European diplomacy and incorporating an interest in local environmental and First Nations issues into her degree. The President of the UBC Polish Club and the Chair of the QV6 conference, she loves travel, languages, snow-/skateboarding, modern art, interior design, and the great outdoors.
Agata Kowalska, BEd, BA University of Western Ontario, London, ON
Agata’s involvement in Polonia began in first year as a singer/guitarist in the Polish church youth band. Since then she’s emceed a number of Polish events and served the Polish Students’ Union as President at UWO. In her spare time she teaches guitar and performs with her band, EDEN, at Polish zabawy.
Paulina Pisarek, BA (cand.), University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON
Paulina is an Honours Environmental Studies student minoring in Spanish. She’s been surrounded by Polonia all throughout her life so she’s excited to be joining the PSSUO this year to help spread the word about Polish culture … and to cook/bake up a storm of Polish goodies!
Krystopher Wojciech BA (cand.), University of Western Ontario, London, ON
Krystopher is born and raised in London, Ontario, and has always maintained his involvement win the Polish Community throughout the years. You’ve probably seen him performing at major Polish festivals with Cracovia, or in his role as the current Vice-President of Western Polish Students’ Union. Krystopher is happy to be involved in the Polish community in London, using his interconnected approach in bridging communications with PISK and the Polish community in southwestern Ontario.
BOARD OF ADVISORS
Andrew Dąbrowski, MSc Ed, OCT, Toronto
Serving as PISK’s president from 2013-2014, Andrew teaches high school and helps people find and sell property all over the GTA. He was born in Poland and came to Canada as a child. Andrew loves both the social and formal aspects of PISK, especially the dancing, networking and trips. He now serves as a PISK Advisor and is happy to see this awesome group carry on!
Natalia Kusendova, BSc, Toronto
Serving as PISK’s president from 2011-2013, Natalia studied molecular biology at the University of Toronto, worked for the high-tech sector after graduation, and is now heading to complete a professional degree in nursing. Natalia is very active within the Polish Community and is happy to be on the PISK Board of Advisors for the 2015 year!
Marcin Lewandowski, MFC, BA, Toronto
Serving as PISK’s president from 2010-2011, Marcin studied forestry at the University of Toronto and still tunes in from time to time to help PISK as needed. Marcin enjoys playing the guitar especially at camping and other various events within the Polish Community.
Paul Sulżycki, RMT, MSc, BSc, Vancouver
Paul studied physiology at Waterloo, massage in Toronto, and sport psychology in Europe. He’s lived on Cape Breton island, in northern Quebec, Yellowknife, Poland, Greece, Germany, and most recently in Vancouver. Paul’s been with PISK forever, starting both Iskra and this blog, helping organize QV in Toronto and speaking at QVs in Montreal and Vancouver, and attending PitR, SLP twice, and Explore. He pops by often to keep this site humming along happily.
