Have something to say that the world really needs to know? Shoot us an email with a proposed piece you’d like to write (not long!), a nice picture of yourself and brief bio (see our bloggers page for what we’re looking for), and think of a username you’d like to use to login. The pattern we’ve been following has been based on your real name (so John Smith would be jsmith), but some people really like their nicknames and we’re cool with that. The only time the public would ever see your username is if they navigate to your personal authorship page (eg: http://pisk.ca/author/your-username-here)… so if you plan on adding your PISK posts to your portfolio, CV, or LinkedIn profile, you would do well to keep this in mind.
Our rules are simple: avoid vulgarity, be nice, and write pieces relevant either to students or Polonia or—ideally—both. And no blatant self-promotion! We can spot it a mile away. Sure, make yourself look good, but do it in a way that makes for fun reading. Everything else is up to you, though we recommend throwing in a picture per paragraph of text, keeping your posts not longer than 500 words unless they’re really good, and tossing a video whenever possible (again, a short video, and ideally a funny/entertaining one to boot).
We’re really not that demanding, and “done is better than perfect” is the mantra we live by. There is no posting schedule, you write what you want when you want, and our team is a bundle of joy to work with. We look forward to welcoming you to our international squad!
